Use this interactive demo to learn how to sync a Notion database with other apps using Zapier.

Quick summary

This demo shows how to connect a Notion database to Zapier by building a Zap that automatically syncs new database items to a destination app like Google Sheets or Airtable. Once published, the integration runs in real time without any manual effort.

Steps

  1. Log in to Zapier, click Create, and select Zaps to begin building a new automation.
  2. Click Trigger to set up the starting point of your Zap.
  3. Search for Notion and select it as your Trigger App.
  4. Choose a trigger event such as New Database Item, which fires when a new item is added to a Notion database.
  5. When prompted, connect your Notion account to authorize Zapier access.
  6. Select the specific Notion database you want to sync.
  7. Test the trigger to confirm Zapier can successfully fetch data from your database.
  8. Add the destination app where Notion data should sync, such as Google Sheets, Trello, or Airtable.
  9. Select the appropriate action event for the destination app.
  10. Connect your destination app account to authorize the action step.
  11. Map Notion database properties to the corresponding fields in the destination app.
  12. Run a test to verify the connection and confirm data is syncing correctly.
  13. Once testing passes, click Publish to activate real-time syncing between Notion and your destination app.

📌 Why this matters

Connecting Notion databases to Zapier enables real-time, automated data sync between Notion and tools like Google Sheets, Trello, and Airtable — eliminating manual data entry and keeping teams aligned across platforms. This integration is essential for teams that manage projects, tasks, or records in Notion but need that data to flow automatically into other business-critical apps. By using Zapier's no-code Zap builder, anyone can set up a live Notion integration in minutes without developer help. The result is a fully automated workflow that responds instantly to new database items, reducing errors and saving hours of repetitive work.
