Use this interactive demo to learn how to activate an inactive Flow in Salesforce Setup.

Quick summary

Activating a Flow in Salesforce enables automation to run in your org by switching its status from inactive to Active through the Flow Builder. This process takes just a few steps inside Salesforce Setup and instantly reflects in the Flow list view.

Steps

  1. Head over to Setup on the top right of your Salesforce org.
  2. Search for Flows in the Quick Find field and select it.
  3. Locate the inactive Flow that needs to be activated — the Active checkbox in the list view will be unchecked.
  4. Open the Flow and click the Activate button on the top right of the Flow Builder.
  5. Your Flow is now Active and running in your org.
  6. The Active status will also reflect in the Flow list view.

📌 Why this matters

Knowing how to activate a Flow in Salesforce is essential for any admin managing process automation. An inactive Flow does nothing — only an Active Flow triggers the automation logic your team depends on. Being able to move quickly from building to activating a Flow reduces deployment delays and keeps business processes running without manual intervention. This skill is foundational for Salesforce admins and developers managing automation at scale.
