Follow this interactive demo to learn how to add a brand account to YouTube.
  1. Go to youtube.com and click your profile icon in the top-right corner. Then, click Switch account from the dropdown to open the account switcher panel.
  2. Check whether the Brand Account already appears in the list. If it does, click it to switch into it directly; no further steps are needed.
  3. If it does not appear, open a new tab and go to myaccount.google.com/brandaccounts and locate the Brand Account you want to add and click on it to open its settings.
  4. Click Manage Permissions to review your team’s access and roles.
  5. In the Manage permissions pane, confirm your current Google account is listed as an owner or manager. If it is not, request access from the current owner.
  6. Return to youtube.com, click your profile icon, and select Switch account. The Brand Account will now appear in the switcher and can be selected to manage its YouTube channel.

📌 Why this matters

Why this matters

Teams that manage multiple YouTube channels across separate Brand Accounts often run into access issues when a new team member needs to be added or when a channel does not appear in someone's account switcher, despite them having ownership. Understanding how Brand Account access flows through Google Account settings and not directly through YouTube is the key to resolving these issues quickly. Adding a Brand Account correctly ensures the right people can switch into it, publish content, and access YouTube Studio without sharing passwords or creating duplicate channels. For agencies or marketing teams managing client channels, this is a routine step that keeps operations clean and auditable.
