Quick summary

Adding a Price Book entry in Salesforce lets sales teams assign custom list prices to products for use in quotes and opportunities. This guide walks through locating the Price Books app, creating or selecting a price book, and adding products with edited pricing in just a few steps.

Steps

  1. Search for "Price Books" using the app drawer icon located in the top left of the Salesforce page.
  2. Click on the specific price book where you want to add the entry to open its detail page.
  3. If no price book exists yet, click New to create one.
  4. Enter a Price Book Name, check the Active box, then click Save.
  5. On the price book detail page, navigate to the Related tab.
  6. Click the Add Products button to open the product selection window.
  7. A window will open — search for and select the products you want to add to the price book.
  8. Select the specific products you want to include in your Price Book.
  9. Click Next to proceed to the pricing step.
  10. Enter an edited list price to match the purpose of your Price Book, then click Save.
  11. A success prompt will confirm the price book entry has been added.

📌 Why this matters

Salesforce Price Books allow sales teams to manage multiple pricing tiers for different customers, channels, or regions — all within a single CRM. Correctly configuring Price Book entries ensures that quotes and opportunities automatically reflect accurate product pricing, reducing manual errors and speeding up deal cycles. For organizations selling to diverse market segments, the ability to create and activate custom price books with tailored list prices is essential for maintaining pricing consistency and compliance across every opportunity.
