Try this guided demo to learn how to add background image to PowerPoint slide.
  1. Open your Microsoft PowerPoint and select the presentation you want to edit.
  2. Select the slide where you want the background image.
  3. Right-click on the slide background (not on any objects).
  4. Select "Background".
  5. Select "Insert Picture" under the "Format Background tab".
  6. Select your image from "This Device or Stock Images".
  7. Choose the photo you want as a background and click the "Insert" button.

📌 Why this matters

Adding background images transforms your slides from generic templates into branded, professional presentations that reflect your company's visual identity. Beyond aesthetics, custom backgrounds help establish credibility with clients and stakeholders who expect polished materials. You can also use backgrounds strategically to reinforce your message - a subtle texture can make text more readable, while themed images can set the emotional tone for your content. This simple customization often determines whether your presentation feels amateur or executive-level.
