Use this interactive demo to learn how to add border to a textbox in Google Slides.
  1. Click on the 'text box' on your slide where you want to add a border.
  2. Select 'Border color' (pen icon) on the toolbar to customize the color of your text box border.
  3. Select 'Border weight' on the toolbar to adjust the thickness of your border.
  4. Select 'Border dash' on the toolbar to choose the style of your border.
  5. The border of your text box will now be displayed on your slide based on the settings you chose.

📌 Why this matters

Adding borders to text boxes transforms scattered content into organized, professional-looking slides that guide your audience's attention exactly where you want it. Beyond simple decoration, borders create visual hierarchy and separate different types of information—like distinguishing key takeaways from supporting details. This becomes especially powerful in data-heavy presentations where you need to highlight critical metrics or create clear sections without cluttering your design. Well-bordered text boxes also photograph better when slides are shared on social media or printed as handouts.
