Use this interactive demo to learn how to insert hashtags into your YouTube video description via YouTube Studio.

Quick summary

Adding hashtags to a YouTube video in YouTube Studio boosts discoverability by linking your content to relevant topic feeds. You can add up to 3–5 targeted hashtags directly in the video description field without re-uploading the video.

Steps

  1. Go to studio.youtube.com and click Content in the left sidebar, then click the title of the video you want to update to open its details page.
  2. Click into the Description field and scroll to the bottom of the existing description text.
  3. Add your hashtags on a new line at the end of the description, typing each hashtag with the # symbol and no spaces within the tag.
  4. Use 3–5 relevant hashtags that reflect the video topic, and include your brand hashtag (#NEPSCorp) for consistency.
  5. Avoid generic high-volume hashtags unrelated to the content.
  6. Click the X icon in the top-right corner to Save and close and apply the changes.

📌 Why this matters

Adding hashtags to YouTube videos is one of the fastest ways to improve organic reach and channel discoverability on YouTube. Hashtags surface your content in topic-based search results and above the video title, driving views from audiences who don't yet follow your channel. For brand channels like NEPS Corp, pairing topic-specific hashtags with a consistent brand hashtag builds recognition while amplifying every upload's SEO value. This process requires no additional tools — it takes under two minutes directly inside YouTube Studio.
