  2. In the dropdown menu, click Edit theme.
  3. On the left panel, select a layout.
  4. On the top menu, click Insert.
  5. In the dropdown menu, click Placeholder.
  6. Click Image placeholder.
  7. Choose a Shape.
  8. On the layout canvas, click and drag the shape to place the image placeholder and you're all set!

📌 Why this matters

Adding image placeholders to your slide themes creates consistent visual structure across entire presentations while giving collaborators clear guidance on where images belong. When multiple people contribute content, placeholders prevent the random scattering of images that often ruins professional layouts. Your template becomes self-documenting, showing exactly what type of visual content fits each section. This becomes especially valuable for recurring presentation formats like monthly reports or client pitches, where maintaining brand consistency and visual hierarchy matters more than individual slide creativity.
