Use this interactive demo to learn how to add image to shape in PowerPoint.
  1. Open your Microsoft PowerPoint and select the presentation you want to edit.
  2. Select the slide where you want to add the picture.
  3. Click the "Insert" button located on the top toolbar.
  4. Click on "Pictures" located in the Illustrations section.
  5. Click "This Device" (or other options) and insert your image.
  6. Click on the image.
  7. Click the arrow down button beside the "Crop button".
  8. Select the "Crop to Shape" button.
  9. Choose your desired shape. Your image will instantly take that shape.

📌 Why this matters

Adding images to shapes transforms ordinary photos into polished design elements that seamlessly integrate with your presentation's visual theme. You can create professional-looking graphics that match your brand guidelines, maintain consistent styling across slides, and avoid the jarring rectangular borders that make presentations look amateurish. This technique also helps you work around copyright or branding constraints by disguising stock photos as custom graphics, while ensuring your images complement rather than compete with surrounding text and design elements.
