Use this interactive demo to learn how to approve a Jira ticket step by step.

Quick summary

This demo walks you through the Jira ticket approval process, showing how to change ticket status and use the Approvals tab to review and approve requests in Jira.

Steps

  1. Open the Jira ticket that requires action.
  2. Change the status of your ticket to Review (or the appropriate approval stage).
  3. As an Approver, navigate to the Approvals tab within the ticket.
  4. Open the ticket that is pending approval from the Approvals list.
  5. Add additional Approvers by clicking Add Approvers in the right column if needed.
  6. In the Approvals section, click Approve to complete the approval.

📌 Why this matters

Jira's built-in ticket approval workflow gives teams a structured, auditable way to enforce review gates before work moves forward. By using the Approvals tab, approvers can accept or reject tickets directly inside Jira without switching tools, reducing bottlenecks and keeping projects on track. This feature is essential for teams that need governance controls, compliance checks, or multi-stakeholder sign-off baked into their agile process. Streamlining Jira ticket approvals accelerates delivery while maintaining the visibility and accountability that engineering and operations teams depend on.
