Walk through this interactive demo to learn how to bold on Google Slides.
  1. First, select the text you want to make bold by clicking and dragging across it.
  2. Now, click the Bold button (B) in the toolbar.
  3. Your text is now bold! You can toggle it off anytime by selecting the text and clicking B again.

📌 Why this matters

Bold text creates a visual hierarchy that guides your audience's attention to the most important points in your presentation. Beyond simple emphasis, bolding strategically helps viewers process information faster during live presentations when they can't pause or rewind. You can highlight key takeaways, important numbers, or action items so they stand out even from the back of the room. This formatting choice also makes your slides more accessible to people who scan content quickly or have difficulty focusing on dense text blocks.
