Steps

  1. Go to Setup in the top right corner of Salesforce.
  2. In the Quick Find box, type "Object Manager" and select it from the results.
  3. Click the Create button in the top right corner of the Object Manager.
  4. Select Custom Object from the dropdown menu.
  5. Enter a Label to give your object a clear name (e.g., Project) and define the Plural Label (e.g., Projects).
  6. Hit Save to create the custom object.
  7. Configure additional settings such as Object Classification and Deployment Status.
  8. Hit Save again to finalize your custom object configuration.

📌 Why this matters

Building accurate business data models in Salesforce is essential for companies that need to structure, track, and relate custom data beyond standard CRM objects. Creating custom objects in Salesforce allows teams to tailor the platform to their unique business processes, from project tracking to resource management. Properly configured custom objects with defined labels and deployment statuses ensure data integrity and make Salesforce a true system of record for any organization. This capability is a foundational skill for Salesforce admins and architects managing enterprise data architecture.
