Changing the automatic assignee in Jira routes all new issues to a designated team member by default, reducing manual triage. You can update this setting in under a minute via Project settings > Details.
Steps
- Navigate to the Jira project where you want to change the automatic assignee.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on Project settings and go to Details.
- Look for the Default Assignee field in your Details page.
- Select Project lead to automatically assign all new issues to the project lead by default.
- Click Save to apply the new settings.
- A notification pops up confirming the change in assignees.
