How to Choose More Colors for FigJam Sticky Notes

Use this interactive demo to learn how to unlock custom colors for FigJam sticky notes using a plugin.

Quick summary

FigJam's default sticky note colors are limited, but the Custom Sticky Color plugin lets you apply any hex code or eyedropper color to your sticky notes instantly. This tutorial walks you through finding, running, and using the plugin to expand your FigJam color palette.

Steps

  1. Select a sticky note in your FigJam board that you'd like to recolor.
  2. Right-click the sticky note, then choose Plugins and Manage plugins.
  3. Search for and select the Custom Sticky Color plugin to expand your available palette choices.
  4. Click Run beside the Custom Sticky Color plugin to launch it.
  5. Select a color tile and use the eyedropper tool or hex code field to choose a new color.
  6. Pick your desired color from the expanded plugin palette or use the color picker for custom hues.
  7. The sticky note updates instantly with your selected color.

📌 Why this matters

FigJam's built-in sticky note palette offers only a handful of preset colors, which limits visual organization in collaborative boards. The Custom Sticky Color plugin removes that constraint, letting teams apply any custom color — via hex code or eyedropper — to individual sticky notes in seconds. This matters for educators, designers, and facilitators who rely on color-coded systems to structure activities, group ideas, or match brand guidelines directly inside FigJam. Unlocking a full custom color palette makes FigJam boards more expressive, organized, and visually consistent without leaving the tool.
