Use this interactive demo to learn how to link your Dialogflow agent to a database via webhook.

Quick summary

Connecting Dialogflow to a database requires enabling the Webhook fulfillment option and pointing it to a fully deployed server endpoint. Once the webhook URL and optional authentication details are saved, your Dialogflow agent can retrieve and write live data during conversations.

Steps

  1. Go to the left-side panel and click Fulfillment.
  2. Switch on the toggle button next to the Webhook option.
  3. Paste the webhook URL into the input field, ensuring a fully configured and deployed server is running behind it.
  4. Enter the required Basic Auth and Headers into their respective input fields.
  5. Review your input and click Save to apply the configuration.
  6. Your Dialogflow agent is now connected to the database and ready to handle live data requests.

📌 Why this matters

Connecting Dialogflow to a database via webhook enables your conversational AI agent to deliver dynamic, real-time responses instead of static, pre-scripted answers. This integration is essential for building chatbots that can query live inventory, retrieve user account details, or write transaction data mid-conversation. By routing fulfillment through a deployed webhook server, teams unlock the full power of Dialogflow as a front-end for any backend data source. This makes it a critical step for developers and product teams building production-grade, data-driven virtual assistants.
