Use this interactive demo to learn how to duplicate and reuse an existing post in Hootsuite's Planner.

Quick summary

The Hootsuite post copy feature lets you duplicate any scheduled post directly from the Plan tab and instantly open it in the Composer for edits. In just a few clicks, you can update captions, swap media, or change social accounts before saving, scheduling, or publishing the copied post.

Steps

  1. Inside Hootsuite's Plan tab, find and select the post you want to copy.
  2. Tap 'Duplicate' to proceed with copying the selected post.
  3. You will be redirected to Hootsuite's Composer, where you can adjust the social accounts, edit the captions, or replace the media.
  4. Once done, tap 'Save As Draft', 'Schedule For Later', or 'Post Now' to finalize.
  5. The selected Hootsuite post will be copied and saved instantly.

📌 Why this matters

Copying posts in Hootsuite eliminates repetitive content creation by letting social media managers duplicate any existing scheduled post in seconds. This is especially valuable for teams running recurring campaigns or repurposing evergreen content across multiple social accounts. The built-in Duplicate feature opens directly in the Composer, making it easy to refresh captions, swap media, or retarget different audiences without starting from scratch. For high-volume publishing workflows, this feature significantly reduces manual effort and keeps your content calendar moving efficiently.
