Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and customize a Salesforce dashboard from scratch.

Quick summary

A Salesforce dashboard lets you visualize key CRM data using charts, tables, and widgets pulled directly from existing reports. This step-by-step walkthrough covers everything from creating a new dashboard to saving and arranging components for a clear, actionable layout.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Dashboards from the Salesforce navigation menu.
  2. Click the New Dashboard button to start building.
  3. Enter a Dashboard Name that clearly describes its purpose.
  4. Click the +Widget button and select Table/Chart to add a component.
  5. Select a report that contains the data you want to visualize.
  6. Click Select to confirm your chosen report.
  7. Choose the chart type you want to use to display the data (e.g., bar chart, line chart, table).
  8. Customize the component by adjusting chart types, titles, and labels.
  9. Resize and arrange the dashboard components for an optimal layout.
  10. Click Save to create and store your dashboard.
  11. Click Done to exit editing mode and view your finished dashboard.

📌 Why this matters

Salesforce dashboards give sales and operations teams an at-a-glance view of pipeline health, performance metrics, and forecast data — all in one place. Being able to quickly create and customize a dashboard means teams spend less time hunting for data and more time acting on it. With support for multiple chart types and report-driven widgets, Salesforce dashboards help managers make faster, more informed decisions. This feature is essential for any organization looking to turn CRM data into clear, real-time business intelligence.
