📌 Why this matters

Creating custom measures lets you analyze your data beyond the default fields in your dataset. You can calculate running totals, growth rates, or complex business metrics that don't exist in your raw data. The real power emerges when you combine these calculated measures with Tableau's grouping and filtering capabilities. A single custom measure can automatically recalculate across different time periods, regions, or customer segments, giving you dynamic insights that would otherwise require separate calculations for each scenario.
