Use this interactive demo to learn how to build a compliant email footer in SendGrid's Design Editor.

Quick summary

Creating an email footer in SendGrid involves using the Design Editor to drag and configure a Social module and an Unsubscribe module below the email body. This ensures every sent email meets compliance requirements while displaying branded social media links and opt-out options.

Steps

  1. Inside SendGrid's Design Editor, head over to the left-side panel and click the 'Build' tab.
  2. Find the 'Social' module and drag it to the main workspace, placing it below the body of the email.
  3. Configure the Social module style settings to match your preferred design, then enter your active social media links into their respective input fields.
  4. Click the 'Close' button to continue after finishing the Social module setup.
  5. Find the 'Unsubscribe' module and drag it to the main workspace, placing it directly below the Social module.
  6. Configure the Unsubscribe Module Styles settings to your preference, including background color, font profile, and other related options.
  7. Review the footer and make final adjustments; add additional elements like a website URL or phone number by repeating the same steps with a text module.
  8. Click 'Save' to apply all changes and finalize your email footer.

📌 Why this matters

A properly structured email footer in SendGrid is essential for CAN-SPAM and GDPR compliance, ensuring every campaign includes a functional unsubscribe option. SendGrid's drag-and-drop Design Editor makes it easy to add and style a Social module and an Unsubscribe module without writing any code. Marketers can reinforce brand identity by linking active social media handles directly in the footer while keeping the design consistent across all email templates. Getting the footer right from the start reduces deliverability risks and builds subscriber trust over the long term.
