Use this interactive demo to learn how to export your PowerPoint presentation as an MP4 video file.

Quick summary

You can convert a PowerPoint presentation to MP4 directly within PowerPoint using the built-in Export feature. This lets you choose video quality (up to 4K), set slide timing, and save the file as an MPEG-4 video without any third-party tools.

Steps

  1. Click File located at the top of the PowerPoint ribbon.
  2. Select Export from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click Create a Video to open the video export options.
  4. Choose video quality: select Ultra HD (4K), Full HD (1080p), or HD (720p) from the Presentation Quality dropdown.
  5. Set timing: use Recorded Timings and Narrations if available, or manually set seconds per slide (e.g., 5 seconds).
  6. Click Create Video to begin generating the video file.
  7. Choose MP4 format (MPEG-4 Video) in the Save As dialog.
  8. Click Save to export and save your PowerPoint as an MP4 file.

📌 Why this matters

Converting a PowerPoint presentation to MP4 is essential for sharing slides as video content on platforms like YouTube, LinkedIn, or in email campaigns where live presentations aren't possible. PowerPoint's built-in Export feature eliminates the need for third-party software, letting users produce high-quality video — up to 4K resolution — directly from their existing slides. This workflow preserves animations, transitions, and narration, making it ideal for creating product demos, training videos, and marketing content at scale. Understanding this process helps teams repurpose presentation assets quickly and distribute them across any video-compatible channel.
