Use this interactive demo to learn how to build a custom Salesforce home page with Lightning App Builder.

Quick summary

Customizing the Salesforce Home Page using Lightning App Builder lets admins create a tailored workspace with role-specific components like tasks, opportunities, and dashboards. This no-code approach gives teams instant access to the data they need directly from their Salesforce home page.

Steps

  1. Go to Setup on the top right of your Salesforce instance.
  2. Search for App Builder in the Quick Find field and select Lightning App Builder.
  3. Click New and choose Home Page as the page type.
  4. Give a Name to the new App.
  5. Choose the layout for the Homepage.
  6. Design your homepage by adding the components you need.
  7. Drag and drop components like lists, charts, and reports to build your layout.
  8. Add components for Tasks, Opportunities, Leads, Cases, and Dashboards.
  9. Click Save to preserve your homepage configuration.
  10. Activate the page to make your homepage live.
  11. Go to Page Activation under the Page settings tab to choose where to assign it.
  12. Add Navigation to the homepage and click Finish.

📌 Why this matters

Customizing the Salesforce Home Page with Lightning App Builder gives sales and operations teams a personalized, role-specific dashboard that surfaces the most critical CRM data — tasks, leads, opportunities, and cases — the moment they log in. Without a tailored home page, reps waste time navigating away from the default view to find relevant records. Using the built-in drag-and-drop editor, Salesforce admins can build, activate, and assign custom home pages to specific user profiles without writing a single line of code. This directly reduces friction in daily workflows and improves CRM adoption across the organization.
