Use this interactive demo to learn how to customize your YouTube channel.
  1. Go to youtube.com, click your profile icon in the top-right corner, and select View your channel.
  2. Click Customize channel to open the channel customization section in YouTube Studio.
  3. In the Channel customization page, click Upload or Change to update your profile pictures and banner image.
Note: Banner images display at the top of your channel page and should be at least 2048 x 1152 pixels for best results across devices.
  4. Scroll down to customize your channel name, handle, description, channel URL, and links.
  5. You can add up to five external links - these appear on your channel banner and are visible to visitors.
  6. Click Publish in the top-right corner to save and apply all changes to your public channel page.

📌 Why this matters

Why this matters

A well-customized YouTube channel makes a stronger first impression and gives visitors a clear sense of what your content is about before they watch a single video. Channels with complete branding — a recognizable profile photo, a properly sized banner, and a clear description — consistently perform better on subscriber conversion than channels with default or missing assets. For businesses, the channel page is often a first touchpoint for potential customers discovering you through search, which makes consistent branding here as important as it is anywhere else online. Taking the time to configure the layout and featured content also ensures returning visitors see your best work rather than whatever YouTube's algorithm surfaces by default.
