How To Delete Classes In Webflow

Use this interactive demo to learn how to remove unused CSS classes from your Webflow project.

Quick summary

Deleting unused classes in Webflow keeps your project's stylesheet clean and reduces bloat. Only classes that are not applied to any element can be deleted via the Style Selectors panel in the Webflow editor.

Steps

  1. Open your Webflow editor and navigate to the Style Selectors section in the left sidebar menu.
  2. Search for the class you want to delete, or locate it in the class list below the search bar.
  3. Check whether the class has a list icon on hover — this indicates the class is currently in use and cannot be deleted; only classes without this icon are eligible for deletion.
  4. For an unused class (no list icon), click the wrench icon next to it to open the options menu.
  5. In the options menu, click the bin icon to delete the class.
  6. Confirm the class has been successfully removed from your Webflow project.

📌 Why this matters

Keeping a Webflow project free of unused CSS classes is essential for maintaining a clean, performant stylesheet and an efficient design workflow. Unused classes accumulate over time and make it harder for teams to manage styles consistently across a site. Webflow's built-in class management tools, including the Style Selectors panel and the delete option in the wrench menu, allow designers to identify and remove redundant classes without touching any code. This helps reduce stylesheet bloat, speeds up design iteration, and ensures only active, purposeful styles remain in the project.
