Quick summary
Notion does not have a native subscript or superscript button, but you can achieve the same result by inserting a math block and writing text in TeX notation. This method works for both inline equations and standalone block equations inside any Notion page.
Steps
- Type the /math command in your Notion page to insert a math block — choose Block equation to display your formula as a separate block.
- Select Inline equation if you want your subscript or superscript text to appear inline alongside regular text.
- Write your content using TeX notation inside the math block editor.
- Use underscore (_) for subscript, caret (^) for superscript, tilde (~) for a space, and curly brackets ({}) to group more than one character.
- Enter your properly formatted TeX text and click Done to confirm.
- Your subscript or superscript text is now displayed correctly on your Notion page.
