Use this step-by-step demo to learn how to edit a message on LinkedIn.
  1. To edit a message on LinkedIn, click the ‘Messaging’ icon in the top menu of your dashboard.
  2. Now, choose the most recent message you want to edit.
  3. Click the 'three-dot' icon and select ‘Edit’ to modify your message.
  4. Type your new message in the text box and send it. Notice that the message will update with a side note saying ‘(Edited)’, which indicates it has been modified.

📌 Why this matters

Editing messages lets you fix typos, clarify confusing wording, or add forgotten details without sending follow-up corrections that clutter the conversation. Beyond simple fixes, this feature becomes invaluable for professional networking where your written communication directly impacts how others perceive your competence and attention to detail. A poorly worded initial message to a potential client or connection can be salvaged immediately, maintaining your professional image while preserving the natural flow of the conversation.
