Use this interactive demo to learn how to add and format a Rich Text block in Webflow.

Quick summary

The Webflow Rich Text block is a versatile element for long-form content such as blogs, supporting headings, images, embeds, and custom text formatting. You can add it from the left sidebar, configure individual elements or the entire block, and use both inline pop-up menus and the right sidebar for full styling control.

Steps

  1. Open the Add Elements section from the left sidebar menu.
  2. Search for or locate the Rich Text block under the Typography section, then drag and drop it onto your page.
  3. Confirm the Rich Text element is placed on your site — it provides an ideal space for long-form content with extensive editing, formatting, and insertion options.
  4. Review the supported content formats, including headings, text, quotes, images, embeds, and lists.
  5. Select the entire block at once or click individual elements inside it for custom configuration and settings.
  6. Highlight any text to reveal the pop-up formatting menu with options such as bold, headings, and italics.
  7. Use the right sidebar menu to edit individual elements or the whole block — for example, to set specific text to a different color.
  8. Create a new line inside the Rich Text block to reveal the (+) insert button for additional content options.
  9. Use the insert menu to add images, videos, embeds, and more.
  10. Customize each element inside the Rich Text block using the pop-up selection menus or the right sidebar Settings tab.

📌 Why this matters

Webflow's Rich Text block is the go-to solution for adding structured, styled long-form content — such as blog posts and editorial pages — directly in the visual editor without writing code. It supports a wide range of content types including headings, quotes, images, and embeds, making it flexible enough for complex content layouts. Each element within the block can be individually styled using inline formatting menus and the right sidebar, giving designers granular control over typography and layout. For teams managing content-heavy websites in Webflow, mastering the Rich Text element is essential for building scalable, editable, and visually consistent pages.
