Use this interactive demo to learn how to edit slide numbers in Google Slides.
  1. Open your Google Slide presentation and click Slide from the toolbar.
  2. From the context menu, select Edit theme.
  3. Navigate to the master slide to edit your theme.
  4. Look for the small number box (usually bottom corner).
  5. Then, change the color of the font.
  6. You can also change the font style of the slide number.
  7. Click on the slide number and drag it to a new position.
  8. Hit the close button to exit from the theme editor.
  9. That's it! All changes apply by using the layout.

📌 Why this matters

Customizing slide numbers transforms them from generic page markers into professional branding elements that match your presentation's visual identity. When you control the font, color, and positioning, your slide numbers seamlessly integrate with your design rather than looking like an afterthought. This consistency becomes especially valuable for recurring presentation templates, client deliverables, or branded materials where every detail reinforces your professional image. Plus, strategic positioning ensures slide numbers remain visible without interfering with your content layout.
