Use this interactive demo to learn how to add a live Google Calendar to your WordPress site.

Quick summary

Embedding a Google Calendar in WordPress lets you display live, auto-updating event schedules directly on any page or post. You do this by copying the iframe embed code from Google Calendar settings and pasting it into a Custom HTML block in the WordPress block editor.

Steps

  1. Sign in to Google Calendar by navigating to calendar.google.com with your Google account.
  2. On the left sidebar, locate the calendar you want to embed under My Calendars.
  3. Hover over the calendar name, click the three vertical dots (options menu), and select Settings and sharing.
  4. On the Settings for my calendars page, scroll down and open the Integrate calendar section.
  5. Copy the iframe code from the Embed code section — optionally click Customize to adjust size or display options before copying.
  6. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Posts or Pages and open the page where you want to display the calendar.
  7. Click the + button to add a new block in the WordPress block editor.
  8. Search for Custom HTML and select it from the block options.
  9. Paste the iframe code copied from Google Calendar into the Custom HTML block.
  10. Click Preview to verify the calendar displays correctly, then click Save to publish your changes.

📌 Why this matters

Embedding Google Calendar in WordPress gives website owners a simple, no-plugin way to display live, automatically updated event schedules on any page or post. This is especially useful for businesses, educators, and community organizations that need visitors to see real-time availability, upcoming events, or booking schedules without leaving the site. Because the embedded calendar syncs directly with Google Calendar, any event added or updated in Google is instantly reflected on the WordPress site, eliminating the need for manual content updates. This method works with any WordPress site using the Gutenberg block editor and requires no coding expertise beyond a simple copy-and-paste of an iframe snippet.
