How To Extract Text From Google Slides

Try this interactive demo to learn how to extract text from Google Slides.
  1. On your presentation, click File in the top-left menu, select Download, then choose Plain text (.txt) as the file format.
  2. Wait for the file to finish downloading, then click the downloaded file to open the text file.
  3. A text file will open containing all the text from your presentation.

📌 Why this matters

Extracting text from your slides transforms static presentations into flexible content you can repurpose across multiple formats. You can quickly create blog posts, social media content, or documentation from your existing presentations without retyping everything. This becomes especially valuable when collaborating with team members who need to work with your content in different applications, or when you're building content libraries where searchable text files make finding specific information much faster than scrolling through visual slides.
