How to Force Copy Google Slides

Follow this interactive demo to learn how to force copy Google Slides.
  1. In your Google Slides, go to the address bar at the top.
  2. Delete the last part of the URL (usually starts with “edit”).
  3. Replace it with “copy”.
  4. Select the full link and copy it.
  5. Open a new tab and paste your updated link.
  6. Click Make a copy. You’re done! Anyone who opens that link will be prompted to create their own copy

📌 Why this matters

You can share templates, worksheets, and presentations without worrying about version control or recipients accidentally editing your original. This method bypasses the usual sharing permissions entirely—anyone with the link gets their own fresh copy to modify freely. The real advantage is eliminating the back-and-forth of sharing requests and access management. Teachers distributing assignments, consultants sharing templates, or team leads providing frameworks can simply send one link that works immediately for everyone, regardless of their Google account permissions or your sharing settings.
