Formatting numbers in Power BI lets you control how values appear in your visuals, turning raw decimals into percentages, currencies, or other meaningful formats. You can apply number formatting directly through the Format visual panel without writing any DAX or custom code.
Steps
- Select your visual and navigate to the Format visual panel on the right side of your screen.
- Click on the General section in the formatting options.
- Expand the General menu and locate Data format to customize how your numbers appear.
- Select the specific column you want to format from the available fields list.
- Under Format options, click the dropdown and select Percentage to convert decimals into meaningful percentages.
- Your numbers are now properly formatted and ready to display in your Power BI report.
