Use this interactive demo to learn how to filter out completed tasks and keep your Asana project view clean.

Quick summary

To hide completed tasks in Asana, use the Quick Filters menu to show only incomplete tasks, then save the view as a new tab so the setting persists across sessions. This lets teams keep their project task list focused and free of finished work without permanently deleting any records.

Steps

  1. Open an existing project in your Asana workspace.
  2. Go to the Filter menu of your project.
  3. Under Quick Filters, set the default filter to Incomplete tasks only.
  4. Click Save as new tab to preserve the filter as a dedicated view.
  5. Confirm that completed tasks no longer appear in your task list.
  6. Click Save view on the left side of your dashboard to finalize the setting.
  7. A confirmation notification appears once the view has been successfully saved.

📌 Why this matters

Hiding completed tasks in Asana helps teams maintain a clean, focused project view by surfacing only the work that still needs attention. Using the Quick Filters and Save View features, project managers can create persistent, clutter-free task lists without losing any historical data. This is especially valuable for large projects where dozens of completed tasks can obscure active priorities. Keeping task lists lean directly improves team productivity and reduces time spent scanning irrelevant items.
