Follow this interactive demo to learn how to lock aspect ratio in Google Slides.
  1. On your slide, click the image you want to edit, then click Format options on the toolbar.
  2. On the Format options panel, select the Size & rotation menu.
  3. On the Size & rotation menu, check Lock aspect ratio to resize the image proportionally without distorting it.
  4. You can now adjust the image size without distorting it.

📌 Why this matters

Locking aspect ratio prevents your images from becoming stretched or squashed when you resize them, maintaining their original proportions and professional appearance. This becomes especially valuable when you're adapting presentations for different screen sizes or formats. Your carefully chosen images stay visually consistent across various viewing contexts, and you avoid the awkward distortions that make presentations look amateurish. When you're presenting to clients or stakeholders, these visual details matter more than you might expect for maintaining credibility and polish.
