Use this interactive demo to learn how to make an image oval in Google Slides.
  1. Let's turn that image into an oval. Start by selecting the image you want to reshape on your slide.
  2. Now, click on the drop-down arrow next to the crop icon in the toolbar.
  3. Click the arrow next to the crop icon and choose "Shapes" from the dropdown.
  4. Select the oval shape from the menu.
  5. Click outside the image or press Enter to apply your changes and lock in that oval look.
  6. Done! Your image now has that polished oval style, ready to make your presentation stand out.

📌 Why this matters

Making backgrounds transparent lets you layer slides creatively, overlay text on images without blocky color interference, and create professional-looking presentations with visual depth. You can build complex layouts by stacking transparent elements, which is especially valuable when combining multiple design elements or creating custom templates. This technique also helps when you need slides to blend seamlessly with projected backgrounds or when presenting over video calls where your slide background might clash with your virtual background or meeting interface.
