Use this interactive demo to learn how to schedule a social media post in Buffer at a custom time.

Quick summary

Buffer's post scheduling feature lets you create and queue social media content across multiple channels from a single dashboard. You can write your post, then set a precise date and time for it to go live automatically — no manual publishing required.

Steps

  1. Click on the Channels tab and choose the social media account where you want to post.
  2. Click on New Post to open the post composer.
  3. Enter your text, hashtags, links, or mentions in the composer.
  4. Click the dropdown arrow next to Add to Queue to reveal additional scheduling options.
  5. Click Schedule Post to select a specific date and time.
  6. Choose a custom date and time for your post to be published.
  7. Click Schedule to finalize your post.
  8. Your post is now set to go live at the selected time.

📌 Why this matters

Buffer's post scheduling feature solves one of the biggest challenges in social media management: publishing content consistently at the right time without being online. By letting users compose posts, select a target channel, and set a precise date and time in just a few clicks, Buffer removes the need for manual publishing across platforms. This is especially valuable for marketing teams and creators who manage multiple social accounts and need a reliable, automated content calendar. Scheduling posts in advance with Buffer helps maximize audience reach, maintain a consistent posting cadence, and free up time for higher-value work.
