Quick summary

Learn how to check your YouTube watch time using YouTube Studio Analytics — from the channel-level overview to individual video performance. This step-by-step walkthrough shows you how to filter by date range and access the full Advanced mode report for deeper insights.

Steps

  1. Go to studio.youtube.com and click Analytics in the left sidebar.
  2. On the Overview tab, check the Watch time (hours) card for the selected period.
  3. Set the date range to Last 365 days to view annual watch time.
  4. Scroll down to see which videos drive the most watch time.
  5. Click See more to open Advanced mode and view the full watch time report and graph.
  6. To check a specific video, go to Content, open its Analytics, and view watch time on the Overview tab.

📌 Why this matters

Understanding your YouTube watch time is critical for channel growth, as it is one of the primary metrics YouTube's algorithm uses to recommend content. YouTube Studio Analytics gives creators a centralized dashboard to monitor total watch hours, filter by custom date ranges, and identify which videos retain viewers longest. Access to the Advanced mode report enables data-driven decisions about content strategy, helping creators hit monetization thresholds and maximize audience engagement. For any creator serious about growing on YouTube, mastering the Analytics dashboard is an essential skill.
