How To Track Changes In Google Slides

Use this interactive demo to learn how to track changes in Google Slides.
  1. Click the File menu at the top-left of the screen, then select Version history and choose See version history from the options.
  2. A Version history panel will open on the right, displaying the edit history of your presentation. Click the version you want to see.
  3. The presentation will update to show the version saved on your chosen date.

📌 Why this matters

Tracking changes protects you from losing work when collaborators make unwanted edits or when presentations get accidentally corrupted. Beyond simple recovery, version history reveals the evolution of your ideas, showing you which concepts resonated with your team and which got abandoned. This becomes invaluable during client feedback cycles, where you might need to resurrect an earlier design direction or prove that specific changes were made at a client's request. You can also compare versions to understand what actually improved your presentation versus what just felt like progress.
