Follow this interactive demo to learn how to type subscript in Google Slides.
  1. Click where you want to insert your subscript character.
  2. Head to Insert in the top menu where Google Slides keeps all its special formatting tools.
  3. Select Special characters from the dropdown.
  4. Search for Subscript or browse the character categories.
  5. Click the subscript character you need.
  6. Your subscript character is now in place. Repeat as needed for more formulas or expressions.

📌 Why this matters

Subscripts transform your presentations from basic text slides into professional scientific, mathematical, or technical documents. You can properly display chemical formulas like H₂O, mathematical expressions with variables, or footnote references that maintain academic standards. Beyond correctness, subscripts signal attention to detail that builds credibility with technical audiences. When you're presenting research findings, patent applications, or educational content, proper notation isn't just about looking polished—it's about being taken seriously by peers who expect industry-standard formatting conventions.
