How to Unhighlight the Text in PowerPoint

Try this interactive demo to learn how to unhighlight the text in PowerPoint.
  1. Inside the slide canvas of your PowerPoint presentation, find and select the highlighted text you wish to edit.
  2. Following that, go to the Home tab and find the 'Highlight' option. Click the drop-down arrow next to it.
  3. Choose 'No Color' from the available options.
  4. Finally, the selected text in your PowerPoint presentation will be unhighlighted.

📌 Why this matters

Removing highlights lets you clean up presentations that have accumulated too much visual clutter or emphasis in the wrong places. You might inherit a deck from a colleague who highlighted different points than you'd choose, or realize your original highlighting draws attention away from your main message. Beyond simple cleanup, unhighlighting becomes essential when repurposing slides for different audiences—what seemed important to highlight for executives might be irrelevant for technical teams, and vice versa.
