Use this interactive demo to learn how to upload audio to YouTube from mobile.
  1. Open a mobile video editing app on your phone and create a new project.
  2. Select an image from your gallery to use as the visual for your audio, such as album art, a podcast cover, or a branded graphic.
  3. Set the project aspect ratio to 16:9 so it matches YouTube’s standard video format.
  4. Add your audio file to the project by importing it from your device storage and placing it in the timeline.
  5. Adjust the image duration so it matches the full length of the audio track, then trim any extra image footage after the audio ends.
  6. Export the project as a video file in MP4 format once everything is aligned.
  7. Open the YouTube app and tap the + icon, then follow the onscreen prompt.
  8. Choose the exported file from your gallery, add a title and description, set visibility, and tap Upload [a][b]to upload your audio content.

📌 Why this matters

Why this matters

Mobile is the most accessible way to get audio content onto YouTube without needing a desktop setup or video production experience. For podcasters, musicians, and businesses publishing spoken content, the CapCut method is a straightforward workaround to YouTube's audio-only restriction that requires no technical background. Pairing your audio with a branded image also gives your upload a professional appearance in search results and on your channel page rather than a blank or auto-generated thumbnail. Getting comfortable with this mobile workflow means you can publish audio content to YouTube from anywhere without waiting until you are at a computer.
