Quick summary
The Blade tool in Descript lets you cut video or audio clips at any point on the timeline with a single click or keyboard shortcut. Once a clip is split, you can move, delete, or trim each segment independently before publishing your project.
Steps
- Activate the Blade tool by clicking the Blade icon in the toolbar or pressing the keyboard shortcut "B".
- Position the playhead at the exact point on the timeline where you want to cut.
- Click at the playhead position to split the clip into two separate parts.
- Edit each clip as needed — move, delete, or trim the segments to refine your edit.
- When satisfied with your cuts, save your project or click Publish to finalize.
