Here’s a simple and quick guide on how to data merge in Adobe InDesign:

  1. To perform a Data Merge in Adobe InDesign, first create your document with the desired layout and text frames. Then, go to the top menu and select 'Window' → 'Utilities' → 'Data Merge.'
  2. The Data Merge panel will open. Click the 'Hamburger' icon in the top-right corner to access more options, then select 'Select Data Source.'
  3. In the file location window, choose your CSV or TXT file. Click 'Open' to merge data in InDesign.
  4. The data is now merged and visible in the Data Merge panel. Drag the header names from the panel onto the corresponding text or image frames in your document.
  5. Check the Preview box in the panel to verify the data.
  6. Click the 'Create Merged Document' icon at the upper left side of the panel.
  7. In the dialog box, select 'All Records' and configure 'Record Layout'.
