Quick summary
Descript's AI Voice feature lets you create a personalized voice clone by recording a short script, then use that clone to generate text-to-speech audio directly inside your project. Once set up, you can write or generate a script with AI and have your cloned voice read it back instantly.
Steps
- Navigate to AI Speakers on the left side of the Descript window.
- Click + New Speaker to start creating your AI voice clone.
- Enter a name for your AI speaker and click Confirm.
- Click Record to record yourself reading the provided script.
- Review your recording, then choose to Re-record or Submit it.
- Open a project or create a new one to use your voice clone.
- Assign the newly created voice clone to your project.
- Write a script manually or generate one using AI.
- Hit the Play button to convert the text to speech and listen to your voice clone reading the script.
