Use this interactive demo to learn how to combine files in Adobe InDesign.

‍

‍

Here’s a simple and quick guide on how to combine files in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To combine files in Adobe InDesign, first open the Pages panel via the Window menu.
  2. Select the page or pages you want to combine into one document, right-click, and choose 'Move Pages.'
  3. A Move Pages dialog box will open. Adjust the settings to select the destination document and the location where you want to move the pages.
  4. Click 'OK' once done.
  5. Open another InDesign document and repeat the same steps with the other pages you want to combine.
  6. Once finished, open the destination document to see all the pages combined into a single file.

📌 Why this matters

Combining files saves you from recreating layouts when pulling together materials from different projects or team members. You can merge chapters from a book, consolidate marketing materials, or compile presentation slides without starting from scratch.

This becomes especially valuable when working with templates or brand assets stored in separate files. Rather than copying and pasting individual elements, you preserve all formatting, styles, and linked assets intact, maintaining design consistency while dramatically reducing the risk of layout errors that plague manual reconstruction methods.
