Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and customize a dashboard in Google Analytics.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to create a custom dashboard in Google Analytics by using the Reports snapshot to add, reorder, and save report cards with the dimensions you need. In just a few steps, you can tailor your analytics view to surface the most relevant data without leaving the GA4 interface.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Reports > Reports snapshot from the left-hand menu.
  2. Locate and click the Customize report button in the top-right area of the screen.
  3. In the side pane, reorder cards by dragging them into the sequence you want them to appear on the dashboard.
  4. Add Cards for any metrics you want to track that are not already listed in the default view.
  5. Select the data you want to view and add secondary dimensions to refine the report to your required level of specificity.
  6. Check the box to confirm your card selection.
  7. Hit Add Card to include the selected card in your dashboard.
  8. Reorder the newly added card toward the top so it is visible in the first few columns of the dashboard.
  9. Hit Save > Save changes to current report to apply and preserve your custom dashboard layout.

📌 Why this matters

Custom dashboards in Google Analytics 4 let analysts and marketers surface the exact metrics that matter most to their business, eliminating the noise of default reports. By adding, reordering, and enriching report cards with secondary dimensions, teams can build a focused reporting hub that supports faster, data-driven decisions. This capability is essential for any organization that needs a tailored view of traffic, conversions, or user behavior without switching between multiple reports. Mastering GA4 dashboard customization helps teams spend less time navigating and more time acting on insights.
