Use this interactive demo to learn how to delete gradient points in Adobe InDesign.

‍

‍

Here’s a quick and simple guide on how to delete gradient points in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To remove a gradient point in Adobe InDesign, open the Gradient panel from the Window menu.
  2. Once the Gradient panel is open, click the gradient point on the gradient ramp. Adjust its Location to 0% or 100% to effectively remove the color at that point.
  3. Observe how the gradient updates immediately and the selected gradient point is removed from the ramp.

📌 Why this matters

Removing gradient points gives you precise control over color transitions, letting you simplify complex gradients or fix muddy color mixing. This becomes especially valuable when working with brand guidelines that require specific color combinations, or when preparing files for print where too many gradient stops can cause banding issues.

You can also use this technique to convert multi-color gradients into clean two-tone transitions, making your designs more refined and ensuring consistent color reproduction across different output methods.
