Use this interactive demo to learn how to surface the highest numeric values in a Coda table.

Quick summary

Coda's built-in Summarize feature lets you instantly find the maximum value in any numeric column and display it in a summary row at the bottom of your table — no formulas required. This step-by-step demo shows exactly how to configure the Max aggregation in a Coda doc in under a minute.

Steps

  1. Navigate to your Coda doc.
  2. Go to your table and click on the column with numeric values.
  3. Click Summarize from the list.
  4. Select Max.
  5. Click Show in summary row to display the result at the bottom of your table.
  6. The maximum value automatically displays at the bottom of the table.

📌 Why this matters

Finding the highest value in a dataset is one of the most common analytical tasks, and Coda makes it effortless without writing a single formula. By using the built-in Max aggregation through the Summarize menu, teams can instantly surface the largest number in any column and pin it to a persistent summary row for at-a-glance reporting. This eliminates the need for manual calculations or external spreadsheet tools, keeping all your data analysis inside the same collaborative Coda doc. For teams managing budgets, scores, or performance metrics, this feature accelerates decision-making directly within their existing workflow.
