Use this interactive demo to learn how to remove a parent page in Adobe InDesign.

‍

‍

Here’s a quick and simple guide on how to remove Master (Parent) Page in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To delete a Master (Parent) page in Adobe InDesign, open the Pages panel from the Window menu to access the Master Pages.
  2. Select one page of the Master (Parent) spread that you want to remove.
  3. Right-click the page and select 'Delete Parent Page.'
  4. A warning box will appear. Click 'OK' to confirm the deletion.
  5. One Master (Parent) page has been successfully removed.

📌 Why this matters

Removing unused master pages keeps your document organized and prevents accidental application to new pages. When you're working with templates or inherited documents, outdated master pages can clutter your workflow and create confusion about which layouts are current.

Clean master page management also reduces file size and improves performance in complex documents. Beyond organization, removing unnecessary masters prevents team members from applying deprecated layouts, ensuring design consistency across collaborative projects and maintaining brand standards throughout your publication.
