Use this interactive demo to learn how to save your VS Code file as PDF.
  1. To save a VS Code file as a PDF, first install a print or PDF extension from the Extensions marketplace.
  2. Once installed, open the file you want to print from your folder, then open the Command Palette by pressing Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows or Cmd + Shift + P on Mac.
  3. Type and select your installed extension (for this demo, 'Print') from the search bar.
  4. Clicking will open a browser where you can save the file as a PDF.
  5. Click 'Save' to download your code file as a PDF.

📌 Why this matters

Converting your code to PDF creates a permanent, formatted snapshot that's invaluable for code reviews, documentation, and sharing with stakeholders who don't use development tools. You can attach it to emails, include it in reports, or print hard copies for offline review sessions. Beyond simple sharing, PDFs preserve your syntax highlighting and formatting exactly as you see it, making your code readable for non-technical team members while maintaining the visual context that plain text strips away.
