Use this interactive demo to learn how to connect and use Packs inside your Coda doc.

Quick summary

Coda Packs are integrations that extend your doc with external app functionality, such as sending emails via the Gmail Pack. This guide walks you through finding, adding, and configuring a Pack so you can automate actions directly inside Coda.

Steps

  1. Open your Coda doc and click 'Insert'.
  2. Navigate to 'Packs' in the Insert menu.
  3. Choose your preferred Pack from the available list.
  4. If you are on a Free plan, click 'Try it' to enable the Pack.
  5. Once added, click on the add icon to begin using the Pack.
  6. Click the 'New button' to create a new action.
  7. Once connected, the Gmail Pack will be available in your document — select 'Send email'.
  8. Define the email content, recipients, and subject line using Coda formulas and data from your doc.
  9. Connect your Gmail account by clicking 'Sign in with Gmail'.
  10. Follow the prompts and click 'Continue' to complete the Gmail sign-in for the first time.
  11. Enter the recipient, subject, and content of the email.
  12. Your Pack is now active — use it to manage your inbox, apply labels, mark messages as read or unread, and move messages to trash or spam.

📌 Why this matters

Coda Packs let teams connect third-party tools like Gmail directly inside their Coda docs, eliminating the need to switch between apps. By integrating Packs, users can trigger actions such as sending emails, managing inbox labels, and automating workflows using Coda formulas and live doc data. This makes Coda a true all-in-one workspace where data and actions live together, reducing manual work and increasing team productivity. For teams evaluating collaborative productivity tools, Packs are a key differentiator that turns a doc into a powerful automation hub.
